【New system of pronouncing judgments in civil litigation】Rationalization for pronouncing the judgment date, and announcing judgments in electronic format

Amendments of Articles 223, 224, and 235 of the Taiwan Code of Civil Procedure shall take effect on November 30, 2018, as rational reforms to the judgment pronouncement system.

▍1.Relaxing the time requirement for preparing judgments

In response to the increasing complexity of cases in a diversified society, the judgment announcement period now has relaxed the time requirement to give judges a reasonable period of time to prepare their decisions.

▍2.The judgments shall be announced publicly

Whether the judgments are verbally debated or not, they should be announced publicly, so that the parties and the public are aware of the outcomes of the court's decisions.

▍3.Transparency of judgment information

The main texts of judgments are announced on the court's website to make judgment information more transparent, in response to the current trend of digitization.

For details, please refer to Article 223, Article 224 and Article 235 of the Taiwan Code of Civil Procedure.
