According to Article 4, Paragraph 1, of the Organic Act of the Judicial Yuan, to be eligible for appointment as a Justice of the Constitutional Court, a candidate must: (1).Have served as a Justice of the Supreme Court for more than ten years with a distinguished record; or (2).Have served as a Member of the Legislative Yuan for more than nine years with distinguished contributions; or (3).Have been a professor of a major field of law at a university for more than ten years and have authored publications in a specialized field; or (4).Have served as a Justice of the International Court, or have had authoritative works published in the fields of public or comparative law; or (5).Be a person highly reputed in the field of legal research and have political experience.
The number of Justices qualifying under any single qualification listed above shall not exceed one third of the total number of Justices.
